The Nissan GT-R Ends Production With Two Limited Edition Models

“Godzilla” was the stuff of dreams.

When it arrived in 2007, the R35 generation Nissan GT-R was the most anticipated sports coupe among enthusiasts. They had read about how each previous GT-R would defy all performance expectations, but they never had a chance to import any of these through Nissan here in the USA.

The current GT-R has made an impact on our culture. A coupe with a hand-built twin-turbocharged V6 that made a lot of noise and proved that Americans were ready for something absolutely mind-blowing.

After 17 years of production, this chapter in the GT-R’s long history will come to a close this October.

To celebrate this long run of enthusiast-focused coupes, Nissan is offering two limited-production special edition 2024 GT-Rs – the T-Spec Takumi Edition and the Skyline Edition.

The T-Spec Takumi Edition is named for the takumi master craftspeople who were tasked to build each GT-R VR38DETT engine for the world. The engine badge acknowledging the takumi will feature red-etched writing, and the engine bay will house a gold VIN plate. The red engine badge signifies an elevated level of attention to precise engine tolerances and component balancing during the assembly of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6.

Mechanically, each T-Spec Takumi Edition will receive some enhancements above all GT-R models. These enhancements include NISMO carbon-ceramic brakes, a gold-painted set of the GT-R NISMO’s RAYS 20-inch forged wheels, and a NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control.

Exterior-wise, the T-Spec Takumi Edition will wear wider front fenders. Each limited edition model will be painted in Midnight Purple, a nod to some of the most iconic special edition GT-Rs of the past. The interior trim will be finished in Mori Green.

Skyline should be a familiar name to Nissan enthusiasts, as the GT-R has always been a part of the Skyline model lineup in Japan. For the limited production Skyline Edition, only one color is available: Bayside Blue. If you know your GT-Rs, Bayside Blue was one of the iconic colors of previous generation models that we never received. It appeared once during this current GT-R run in the 50th Anniversary Edition model in 2019. The interiors will be finished in Sora Blue.

With a limited run of less than 200 units, the 2024 GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition will be available starting from $151,090, and the 2024 GT-R Skyline Edition will start from $131,090.
